Harold T. Rice, Jr., Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer
Harold T. Rice, Jr. has served as the Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer for Albany Park Community Center since December 2008. Harold is a senior level executive with accomplishments in achieving revenue, profit, and business growth objectives within both profit and not-for-profit sectors. Known for his ability to integrate his entrepreneurial experience with a consistent long-term vision, Harold has launched several strategic plans that have led to substantial fiscal growth. Furthermore, Harold has excelled in creating both the structure and team dynamic necessary to guide companies through turbulence and economic uncertainty, while making employee and customer-centered policies a top priority. He also serves as a member of the Swedish Covenant Hospital Foundation Board of Directors.
Harold earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Engineering Technology from Kennedy-King College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota. He completed post-graduate studies in management at Cardinal Stritch University and received his Master of Science Degree.
Brendan P. Foster Chief Operating Officer
Brendan P. Foster has over 15 years of experience serving the nonprofit social services sector. He has established himself as an innovative leader in the areas of program design and development, fundraising, quality outcomes, and operational compliance. As an executive at APCC, Brendan is committed to ensuring the organization maintains strong and effective programming that meets community needs, developing sustainable programs and organizational growth, and continuing to establish APCC as the premiere social service agency in the region.
Brendan has served on the Board of Directors of the Lincoln Park Community Shelter (LPCS) for over 5 years and served as a volunteer for over 10 years. During his tenure on the Board, LPCS has doubled the size of its budget and completed a capital campaign to fund the renovation of the shelter into a state-of-the-art facility for homeless men and women in Chicago. Brendan earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Clarke University and holds a Master of Business Administration and Master of Nonprofit Administration (with distinction) from North Park University.
Ronnda M. Simpson
Director of Human Resources
Ronnda M. Simpson, PHR, Director of Human Resources, brings over 12 years of human resources experience to the agency. Ronnda is a highly knowledgeable and dedicated Human Resources Professional with a comprehensive scope of experience. Before joining Albany Park Community Center she worked as a HR Consultant helping nonprofit organizations in Chicago and nationwidewith their human resources needs. Ronnda previously held the position of Human Resources Manager at Chicago based social service agency, Uhlich Children’s Advantage Network (UCAN). Prior to UCAN, Ronnda worked at Accenture and Accenture HR Services as a Benefits Specialist and a Human Resources Analyst, and at the City of Chicago as a Human Resources Analyst. Ronnda has a passion for cultivating and driving all facets of human capital with energy, strategic vision and seamless execution. Ronnda holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration from Roosevelt University. Ronnda obtained a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification in 2006 and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Dina Evans, Senior Director of Children & Youth Programs
Dina Evans has worked in the field of early childhood care and education for more than 20 years. Before joining Albany Park Community Center, she taught in private children's programs and with at-risk children in a Head Start program in Michigan. Evans also spent a year abroad as a teacher and consultant in a preschool program in Taiwan. She has experience as a museum educator and contributing writer for the Museum of Science and Industry. She is currently a Community Fellow with the Center for Urban Research and Learning at Loyola as a member of the 'Child Care Policy and Standards' team.
Dina has received certificates from Loyola University's School of Business and Administrative Executive Education Programs in Leadership and Project Management. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and her Masters of Education from Loyola University Erikson Institute.
Ewa Kulas, Senior Director of Adult Education Programs
Ewa Kulas has been involved in the field of education for over 25 years working as a teacher and administrator in the United States and abroad. Kulas has also been involved in numerous national and state projects such as Immigrants' Life-Skills Project, WWLP (What Works Literacy Partnership) Project and Retention Project. She also led the ESL/Vocational Curriculum Project, created/revised tests for ACT and has given a number of presentations on teaching topics at ITBE Convention (Illinois TESOL/Bilingual Education), Family Literacy Conference, and IACEA (Illinois Adult Education Association) Convention. For two years, she was also a Co-Chair of the Adult Education SIG (Special Interest Group) for ITBE.
Ewa attended a two year Ph.D. Program (with a concentration on Teaching Languages) at the University of Warsaw, Poland and holds an M.A. in Linguistics/TESL from the University of Poznan in Poland. She participated in the Executive Education Program at Kellogg School of Management/Northwestern University in Chicago.
Mary O'Reilly, Chief Liaison Officer
Mary O'Reilly has been with the Albany Park Community Center for over 20 years. Prior to becoming a full-time employee with the agency she worked for the Chicago Public Schools in the office of Casimir Pulaski Elementary School. She is currently the Director of Human Resources for the agency and in this capacity she manages payroll and benefits for the staff of 160 employees.
