More than
120 old and new friends of the Albany Park Community Center
came together to honor community heroes at APCC's Inaugural
Gala, "A Celebration of Community." The April 12,
2008 event was a spectacular affair featuring dinner,
dancing, live and silent auctions and lots of surprises.
Mistress of Ceremonies Merri Dee did a wonderful job of
keeping the evening rolling and the audience in stitches.
Among the
evening's honorees were State Senator Iris Martinez, State
Representative Richard Bradley and Aldermen Margaret Laurino
and Richard Mell. Honorary Co-Chairs for the event were US
Representatives Jan Schakowsky and Rahm Emanuel.
In all,
more than $30,000 was raised, making this APCC's most
successful fundraising event to date! More importantly,
however, everyone had a wonderful time and did so much to
help Albany Park families in need in the process.
APCC would
